PRACTICAL ADVICE

Good questions.
Better decisions.

Understand the essentials before choosing commercial solar or battery storage.

Is my business suitable for solar?

The starting points are your electricity use, when you use it, and the space available. Roof condition, shading, site access and electrical capacity also matter. An assessment brings these together before a system is recommended.

Can I install solar on leased premises?

It may be possible, with the necessary landlord consent and suitable lease arrangements. Share your lease length and premises details so these can be considered early.

Do I have to pay for the system upfront?

Outright purchase, finance and power purchase agreements offer different approaches. Availability and terms depend on the project and provider. Compare ownership, payments, maintenance and the full contract term before deciding.

Can a battery work with existing solar panels?

Potentially, yes. Compatibility, available space, electricity consumption and the existing installation need to be reviewed to establish a suitable design.

Will installation interrupt our operations?

Access, working hours and any necessary electrical shutdowns should be agreed in advance. The installation plan needs to reflect how your business operates.

What information do you need for an assessment?

Your site postcode, approximate annual electricity use or spend, operating hours and whether you own or lease the premises are a useful start. Detailed consumption data can be requested later.

Will a battery provide power during an outage?

Only a system designed and configured for backup can do this. The loads it can supply and the duration depend on the equipment, stored charge and site design. Discuss critical loads during the assessment.

What happens after installation?

Confirm the handover, warranties, monitoring, maintenance and fault-reporting arrangements in your proposal. Responsibilities can differ between purchase, finance and funded agreements.
